Ground Beef Recall


If you live in any of these states, Texas, Tennessee, Kansas, Mississippi, Illinois, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, and Arizona please check your ground beef.  Here are the items that are being recalled:


The following products are subject to recall:

• 10 lb. packages of “National Beef” 80/20 Coarse Ground Chuck, package code “0481.”
• 10 lb. packages of “National Beef” 81/19 Coarse Ground Beef, package code “0421.”
• 10 lb. packages of “National Beef” 80/20 Fine Ground Chuck, package code “0484.”
All these products have a “USE BY/SELL BY DATE” of June 14, 2013, and bear the establishment number “EST. 208A” 

This is a Class I recall meaning that using this product WILL make you sick.  A Class I recall means that “This is a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.” They have been contaminated with E.Coli and are not safe to eat. It doesn't matter how well you cook the meat or if it is frozen it needs to be returned.  If you have questions about the return, you should contact the company at (877) 857-4143 for details about the recall and their return and reimbursement policy.

E.Coli can cause dehydration, abdominal cramps that last 2 to 8 days and bloody diarrhea.  It can also cause kidney failure.  The kidney failure is shown as a fever, abdominal pain, pale skin, fatigue, irritability, unexplained bruises, bleeding from the nose and mouth, decreased urination and swelling.  If you or someone you know has these symptoms please proceed to the nearest emergency room.
