Gluten Free Barbecue Sauce Recipe

One of the items that often contain gluten is Barbecue sauce.  Again this is easy to make and it should only take 10 to 15 minutes.  Bottled varieties contain gluten so that it has a good consistency after being on the shelf for a while. 

1/2 cup Heinz ketchup
1/4 cup water
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons vinegar
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon salt



Directions:


In saucepan, combine all ingredients. Simmer uncovered, 10 minutes.

Feel free to add more molasses, or add liquid smoke.  This is only a basic recipe and it can be changed to suit your tastes.  I have a friend who uses a tablespoon of honey and a few drops of liquid smoke with this recipe. 

I find that this recipe works well with just about any type of meat and it can be adapted to be spicy, sweet, or more savory as I wish.  I love the versatility of it.
