The Crazy 8 Cupcake

Normally I don't just post press releases, however, I have the opportunity to try this new cupcake and have found it to be fantastic.

Since I personally reviewed the product I found that I wanted to share the information I received tonight with everyone. I reviewed the Carolina Cupcakery a while back and that review can be found Carolina Cupcakery Review.

If you will remember the owner Dawn is more than happy to ship products.  So if would like, I am sure that the new Crazy 8 Cupcake will be available to those not living in the area.

Now if I am only able to obtain pictures.  (this is a hint Dawn)

Ok, now to the point of this post.  The Press release as it was sent to me.

On August 29th, Dawn Eskins, mastermind behind Carolina Cupcakery’s Food Allergy Bakery will unveil her newest creation, the “Crazy 8 Cupcake” on WAVY TV’s The Hampton Roads Show at 11 AM.

For years, Carolina Cupcakery has been the source for gluten-free, sugar-free and vegan baked goods.  Now they have taken it up another notch. At the FAB they offer cupcakes packaged for classroom parties that contain no eggs, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, wheat and soy. FARE reports that these top eight allergens constitute for approximately 90 percent of allergic reactions*.

Crazy 8 cupcakes will be sold by-the-dozen in all of Carolina Cupcakery’s locations beginning August 30th.  The first flavors to be introduced are chocolate and vanilla cake varieties available with specially formulated vanilla frosting. Additional varieties will be introduced in the near future.

Back to School Food Allergy Summit -Review-

Tonight I have attended the Food Allergy Summit.  There was a lot of good information to be shared with the participants.  We learned more about 504 plans, the newest in Epi Pen Technology, how to deal with school administrators and what is going on in the world of allergy treatment.  The Carolina Cupcakery has also managed to create an Allergy Free Cupcake that has no soy, nuts, peanuts, wheat, gluten, Soy, milk or eggs.  Also the taste was divine.

There are now automatic EPI pens that talk the user through the steps of how to administer the medication should the need arise.  This is great for teachers and those who are not comfortable with how to use an EPI pen.  This is just the thing you need if your child has a life threatening allergy and there is not always the possibility of teaching everyone how to properly administer the cure.

504 Plans, I have talked about them before, these are contracts with the school in how to deal with a Childs allergies.  Also the school must provide a safe learning environment for your child.  That includes safe food.  If you have not yet created a 504 plan for your child with Celiac or a life threatening allergy, you should do so as soon as possible.  Since the parent is the expert in the needs of the child, make sure that you have an active part in developing this plan.

Allergy treatment, there has been a change in the way Doctors are handling some allergies, instead of avoiding the foods that make yourself or your child react, they are trying to work up a tolerance.  Sadly however, this doesn't work for those who have Shellfish allergies or Celiac.  Those allergies work differently than a peanut or tree nut allergy.  At this time the only way to deal with those issues is avoidance of the foods that make you sick.

There was so much information given out to those who attended.  This may turn into a yearly event, and if it is, I would love to see more of you attend.  There is so much that can be learned from attending something like this.

Personally, I had a great time; I can’t wait to see what they do with this in the coming years.

Carolina Cupcakery - Review

I was recently offered an amazing chance by Carolina Cupcakery.  I was able to view the kitchens, try out the power tools, Meet Dawn Eskins and try some fantastic products.

Let me start at the beginning, Dawn Eskins started the Carolina Cupcakery with her two daughters in Camden NC; she is also the baker for it.  Many of you are now wondering why I am doing a post on a place that sells Cupcakes.  The reason being is that Carolina Cupcakery makes gluten free products.  Including gluten free doughnuts, gluten free cupcakes, gluten free lemon bars ECT.  She has an amazing list of Gluten free products, as well as Kosher, sugar free, Vegan, and allergy friendly products.
