Homemade Cleaning Solutions

Cleaners have been known to contain gluten.  That is one of the sneaky ways that it can make its way into your house.  However, there are cheap, green, gluten free ways to clean your house.  Here are common items that you could use.

Vinegar

Water

Lemon

Baking Soda

Cream of tartar

Salt

Oil

A few recipes that I myself use are as follows…

Furniture polish:

 You mix oil with lemon juice in equal measure and you are done.  Then use as much as you need and cap it when you don’t need it. 

Here are a few more recipes so that you can keep yourself gluten free, have more money in your pocket and help protect the environment at the same time.

Toilet cleaner:

Baking Soda

Vinegar

This mixture creates an instant bubbles mixture and helps clean and de odorize your toilet.  Also no harsh chemicals needed.

Glass cleaner:

A half mixture of white vinegar and water.  Yep that is it.  While I cannot guarantee a streak free shine I do know how well it works.

Scrub cleaner:

Mix Lemon Juice

Baking Soda

Salt

Make a paste and clean away.  This is also great for scrubbing stoves and baked on food from pots, pans, and baking sheets.  Note this can scratch so be careful what you use it on.

Floor Cleaner:

Mix 1 cup vinegar

1 gallon water

1 tsp. scented oil of choice.  Or lemon juice personally I just use the lemon.

Garbage disposal:

Lemon

Boiling water

Cut a lemon into quarters and place them into the garbage disposal start pouring the boiling water down the drain and then turn on the disposal.  Once everything is clear or you are out of water you are done.  It should smell lemon fresh and be clean.  Also the lemon and boiling water melts away any grease that is caught. 

Laundry Detergent:

4 cups HOT water

3 Tbsp. Borax

3 Tbsp. Washing Soda

2 Tbsp. Dawn Ultra dishwashing liquid.

Mix together the dry ingredients into a clean gallon sized jug.  Add the dawn and then put in the 4 cups of hot water.  You can make many of these at a time.  To wash clothing it takes about a cup of the detergent and there are low bubbles from it.  However, it works very well.  And it is cheap to make and use.

Air Freshener: 

Mix Baking soda and lemon juice in a small dish.  Place this dish in the affected area. This works well in eliminating the odor, and not just covering it up.
