Homemade Shepherd's Pie (with Hamburger)



1 lbs hamburger browned and drained
1 cup shredded cheddar
6 carrots chopped and steamed
1 medium onion diced
3 stalks of celery chopped
5 Potato’s peeled and mashed
½ cup mushrooms
3 GF Beef bouillon cubes
2 cups of water
½ cup cold water
2 tbsp corn starch
2 tbsp butter or oil
1 tsp garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste


Directions preheat the oven to 350


Sauté the onions, mushrooms, and celery using the butter or oil

 

Mix the steamed carrots, sauté mix, and hamburger into a casserole dish, add the garlic powder, salt and pepper to this and mix will.

Mix the two cups of water with your bouillon cubes bring to a boil

Make a Slurry with the ½ cup cold water and the corn starch.  Add the slurry to the bullion and then bring to a boil again.  Keep stirring until it has a good consistency remove from heat

Pour the gravy over the hamburger mixture and mix

Top the hamburger mixture with mash potatoes.  Make a thick layer of the potatoes. 

Top the potato’s with the cheese

Bake for 35 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the potatoes are just starting to brown on the edges

Let the casserole sit for 10 minutes before serving.
